KASSEUS is a contemporary collage artist known for his bricolage approach to a visual language. His work interrogates a range of media from; history, advertising, fashion, photography and street art culture - and reassembles these familiar narratives in an imaginative response. He uses a combination of traditional and contemporary methods to create a structured chaos on canvas - the result is a feeling of curiosity and a dark sense of hope.
KASSEUS' methodology is rooted in a long career as a fashion photographer & video director. Yet, breaking away from the archetypes of traditional collage - KASSEUS photographs each model personally. Documenting and reimagining a stylized human in a supernatural reality, full of symbolic and cinematic forms.
His work expands into the field of live art through the use of projection mapping, video collage and live DJ sets. Combined together, these different elements fuse to create a memorable, sensory event.
His latest series of work takes influence from movie poster design throughout the eras, Japanese culture, American 50’s advertising and fashion photography juxtaposed with street art. Overall recovering sensuality and thrill, typically found within these dialogues.
The artwork KASSEUS will be making live at the Dynamite Art Fair is of Carys. He photographed Carys earlier in the year, and now creates fictional reworkings of his own work with collaging Vogue front covers and iconic Kate Moss imagery.
